Excellent food and service! Rosana was our server and did an amazing job! Wish we had this restaurant in Chicago!

To me Mi Ranchito is a really bad version of the stereotypical over done faux tex mex restaurant. The food is sloppy and unauthentic. Nothing was fresh. It took forever to get our food which had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp for too long and then 5 minutes after that to get the silverware. Margaritas are a decent price but eh.

So my husband and I found ourselves 2 blocks away from Mi Ranchito and decided to try it. I'll start by saying that our server, Daniel did and amazing job! We never waited for a chip or drink refill. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The chips and salsa were very good, but make sure to ask for their green salsa...its ahhh-some!! It would be very good on some fish or shrimp tacos. I had the shrimp and crab enchiladas. I must say they were not my favorite, but pretty good. I was expecting something else (like at another restaurant I like), but it was ok. The enchiladas came with rice, black beans and a scoop of corn cake. We also had a margarita, which I must say I've had better down on SW Blvd...but this wasn't bad. If I find myself on this side of town again I will defiantly return for that yummy green salsa and maybe try some deep fried tacos or fajitas. The service and the fun atmosphere make me want to return... The food- well, I'll give it another shot and see if I find something amazing!!

I have to say the service here was really good but the food on the other hand isn't. I've been here a few times and tried to give it a chance however after the last time causing me to be very sick I've decided I will not be returning.

I love Mi Ranchito's. The service here is good. and the food is great. I really like the veggie fajitas with chicken added to it. the queso dip is also really really good. If your in the mood for something good and don't feel like cooking, I would suggest you try this place.

I was visiting my family and we went here for dinner and I will say it was one of the worst dinners we've ever gone out for. We got our table in the back where there was a big family next to us with screaming kids who were letting their children race cars on the floor and jump on the backs of our chairs. We ordered two pitchers of margaritas one regular on the rocks and one strawberry on the rocks. The regular one came out and the strawberry one came out blended so we sent it back took about 10 minutes to get the right one out. We ordered our food and about 40 mins later it came out!!! We kept asking and asking where it was! The table with a couple next to us ordered after us had already received their food, ate and paid there bill and a new couple were seated and eating before we got our food! The best part was half our orders were wrong! My brother ordered a chicken burrito it came out with steak and shrimp, umm not even close! But we were so over waiting and hungry at this point that he just kept it. Horrible service! I swear when I come back into town I pray we never have to come here again!

I really can't say anything bad about Mi Ranchito. It may not be 'authentic' as other places, but I have never had a bad experience. Food is always fresh and sometimes blazingly hot when it arrives. Margaritas are alright - I prefer my margaritas not come out of a machine, but with the amounts they sell, cant say I blame them. Manager is always present and usually comes by to ask how things are.

Decided to eat here for lunch and was not disappointed! Had the carne asada taco with sides of black beans and rice. I'm not much of a black bean fan and the rice was average but the taco was awesome! I substituted a corn tortilla which I always do. The seasoning on the meat was nice. The service was spot on! I'll be back!

Why is this place always packed?! Tried to visit twice and decided to go elsewhere because of a long wait. We ended up going in one week night and although the margaritas were a great price the food was over done and I didn't notice a fresh or authentic aspect about it. I also had to go to the bar to get any silverware after trying to flag down several servers. Meh.

Every month, when I visit Kansas City for work, I pay a visit to Mi Ranchito. I love the fajitas, service, and margaritas! I've never been disappointed.

Really decent. Big fan of the happy hour margarita special! Love the Tijuana poppers: battered fried jalapenos stuffed with chicken and cheese, served with a nice cool sour cream based dipping sauce, what's not to love? You've got crispy, melty, cheesy, spicy and cool all at once. Had a hard time finding anything on the menu not loaded with re-fried beans though. Husband and I split a chicken chimichanga since it came with black beans and liked it. Loaded with flavor. Served with a little side of delicious guacamole. The platter was plenty of food for leftovers, or the perfect size for sharing. The rice and black beans were OK. Liked the thin crispy tortilla chips. The waiter was very pleased to tell us he made the salsa that day. We found him friendly and likeable and the experience overall was pleasant.

I flat out love this place. There are so many crappy tex-mex places in this area. Their chips are some of the best I have ever had. Thin and crispy and I like adding extra salt. They have some great salsa, awesome avocado sauce or green sauce (not guacamole), and great espinaca dip. We get it each time we are there. I'll usually get the deep fried tacos or the shrimp tacos. I'll get the Bravo burrito (steak & shrimp) on occasion. It's not easy on the arteries, but I could eat the deep friend tacos every day and never get tired of them. You also get a generous amount of beans and rice with your order. We are regulars there and mistakes and accidents do happen, very rarely, they usually comp our food or fix it immediately. I've never had any issues, the wait staff is great. I usually don't have room for desert, but their sopapillas are good.

I love the Mi Ranchito near my house, but after a second visit this location lets little to be desired. Our server was pretty bad. I'm pretty sure she forgot to put in our order because two tables who arrived after us (and put in their orders after us) received their food before us. Her excuse, well they are tables of two and we were a table of four. Seriously, we ordered tacos that take about two seconds to put together. About five minutes later, our food arrived. We had leftovers and I asked for a box. She brought a tiny one that the taco couldn't even fit in. I had to have someone else bring a normal-size box. Even though the food was fine, spacey service really can taint a dining experience.

Do you love the smell of grilled onions and peppers sizzling on a platter as fajitas are served? Well you DON'T get that here. The meat was good, but the onions were barely grilled and there was a warm slice of red and green pepper laying on top of the meat. That is NOT how fajitas are served. We asked if we could have some grilled onions and peppers. They made an attempt, but it still didn't compare to what you would get at Jose Peppers. I'm probably one of the few that just doesn't like this place. I keep trying to find something good, but they don't make it easy. I'm thinking I'll stick to nachos.

Great guac and chips followed by their Espanada enchiladas. Washed it down with a nice frozen margarita in which I could actually taste the tequila. I've been there several times now and it never disappoints!

Great service and can't beat the Tuesday night $1 tacos. We can get a great meal and only pay $10 for 3 of us. Also they remember your order if you're a regular. Plus you can get in and out in 30 min.

Very good food! Great priced drinks. I had the Friday special enchiladas and they were very tasty. The chips and salsa was good too. Overall a good experience. I will be back!

Never disappointed!!! Fast, friendly, delicious, cheap..everything you need in a restaurant. Better than other locations I've tried in the area.

Great experience all the way around. They have friendly service with a smile. All the servers pitched even through it wasn't their table. Our drinks, chips and salsa were never empty. They have a large menu with a lot of variety. The salsa tasted fresh, but not too spicy. I loved the flavor that the cilantro and green onion added. The chips were thin, crispy, lightly salted, and not greasy. The ingredients in the food tasted fresh. My burrito had big chunks of white juicy chicken, not fatty at all. My friends also enjoyed their crunchy chicken tacos and beef burritos. Now this place isn't really authentic but that's not what they are going for. I don't have anything negative to say about it.

Hot salsa is amazing. I don't mind if I ever have to wait for a table here, food is great and service is amazingly good. Always consistent!

Went here for the first time with my husband. It was great! Got seated fast and waited on fast. We both got a margarita, not the best but still good. Our waiter was extra friendly and efficient. Our food also came out fast and was very good. We both enjoyed the chips and salsa. We will definitely be coming back!

Far from authentic, some kind of Tex Mex or Mid West variation of Mexican food. Tried some very basic things such as chile rellenos, tamales, beans. Not good, the tamale had a strange texture & a microwave flavor, the chile relleno was awful, wrong spices, too much cheese, & not enough bite from the chile itself. I don't get it, very bland, too cheesy, and saucy.

When you take out the drinks, there's not much to brag about this restaurant. The price is reasonable and the serving is pretty good size. The food is decent and staff are friendly, but I have to take away one star for its lack of cleanliness: The restroom isn't clean, and also the spoon I asked for in the middle of the meal was dirty and stained, which prompted me to check my unused silverware,,, and yeah there's some stain here and there. Eeek!!! It's probably better to opt for to-go instead of dine-in.

Okay here's my disclaimer... I was Mexican in my former life so I don't play when it comes to Mexican food and I get very offended when it sucks. That being said Mi Ranchito was descent. A group of us went after kick boxing class. We walked in and were seated immediately. Our server, Alberto, came over fairly quickly and took our drink orders. I asked for a Cadillac margarita, which evidently they've never heard of but he was able to point out something comparable. And let me tell you they did not skimp on the tequila. Of course being the aficionado that I am, I ordered a combination that wasn't actually on the menu but they were very accommodating. At first they brought me the wrong thing but Alberto quickly realized and took it away. The manager then came over to apologize and then came back once my food came to make sure everything was okay. I'm giving them an extra start for service. The food was basic, nothing spectacular but I would go back again.

Good Amerixican. Also, the fajitas for two are pretty darn good... but it's a LOT of food!

Great experince, period! Not only is the food great at this particular location, but the staff is really great. The manager walks around and keeps things running smoothly, the wiatresses are always smiling, and the food is great. Went there for dinner for a birthday celebration and everyone's meals were amazing. The portions are huge for the price, as other reviews have said. Plan on taking leftovers home. Hard to beat this place and they are always packed.

Very nice service! Our waiter was a young man named Cole and he was attentive and suggested several dishes to us since it was our first time here. I ended up playing it safe and tried the Fajita Chicken Nachos and they were super yummy. My friend ordered Chicken Fajitas and she was very pleased with her sizzling plate of deliciousness! Food was great and served fast! :) I would go back and more likely will go back soon! :)

I've never been greeted so many times at a restaurant. Service is ALWAYS so friendly, the food is great and reasonably priced. By far my favorite mexican restaurant in KC! Las Perlas Enchiladas and Cream Cheese Enchiladas are the best!

Other than the guy two tables over from us who was severely over-served and being kind of a loud jerk, I had a pretty good time. We got home about 3 hours ago, and I'm still full (not to mention the fact that I even brought home left overs). Atmosphere: They were pretty packed for a pretty early dinner. The wait was reasonable though - 20 minutes to seat four of us. There two things that bugged me: My friend had mentioned when she put her name in that we wanted to sit inside. When our little pager buzzed, we went up and she asked us if we wanted to sit outside. Are you kidding me?! We ended up sitting outiside 1) because we were getting hungry and 2) because she told us they had HEATERS outside. The other thing that majorly bugged me was that the heater by our table was NOT on, and we had to ask THREE TIMES before it was finally turned on. Our waiter was kind and friendly, but I wish he would have spoken a bit slower since he an accent. Food: The tortilla chips were homemade and fresh. They gave us a few different salsas, but they all seemed mild to me. We ordered some guacamole, which was fresh but different than other guacamole I've had. I would've probably added some spice and left out the red onions. No regrets about my entree or the margarita. All four of us got frozen margaritas - two strawberry, one regular, and I got mango. They were tasty, almost too easy to drink (No wonder the loud annoying guy was wasted). I had "grande combination cuatro" - grilled chicken enchilada, tamale, ground beef taco. There was some amazing cheese sauce on the tamale that was AMAZING. All of our entrees also came with a small mound of something which I figured out was a maize paste. I think I would have liked it more if I expected it to be sweet, so you've been warned. Price: Definitely reasonable. I don't remember how much our margaritas cost, but the chisp and salsa were free, and our entrees were all less than $10. TAMALES, MARAGARITAS!

After moving to the neighborhood we were going to another restaurant for Mexican food... that was until we found THIS ONE! So much better!! The chips are thin and fresh, the salsa is some of the best I've ever had, and we LOVE the deep fried tacos. Service is fast and friendly too. I really liked the Mexican Pizza appetizer. I ordered it as a meal and it was a lot to eat. They have Margarita specials (with the better tequilas too!) and Taco Tuesday's.

Love the $.99 Taco Nights on Tuesday.... great marg. deal too. If you buy the mi casa fajitas, they are huge. buy the extra setup plate for $1.99 (rice, beans, fajitas fixin's) makes a full meal for two.

My family and I are obsessed with Mi Ranchito, I have been to all but 1 location, and they are all great IMO. I love that their chips are thin, salty and not greasy and I love the flavor of the salsa, you can really taste the cilantro and onion. If it is not spicy enough for you, ask your waiter for the hot salsa, it has fresh habanero peppers in it. Dishes I have tried that are all amazing: Avocado and Shrimp Quesadilla Bravo Burrito Fajita Chimichanga Chicken Flautas They have the most amazing, buttery, plump grilled shrimp I have ever had at a Mexican American restaurant. Their Margaritas are also amazing...Thursday nights are their $6 Patron Margarita special. I have tried other Mexican restaurants in the area and none compare to Mi Ranchito!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
